I’m pretty pleased to have a stop on the blog tour for His Mother’s Lies by J. A. Andrews. I must apologise to Rachel of Rachel’s Random Resources and J.A. Andrews for my late posting. Thanks to both for my digital ebook in order to write my honest review.

I married her son, but he couldn’t see her evil…
Charlotte’s dream wedding to Ethan was the happiest day of her life. She knew his mother, Anna, loved her only son, but her overbearing nature starts driving Charlotte insane. Ethan always claimed his mother accepted her as part of the family, but her gut instincts couldn’t be wrong.
To help the happy couple save for their first house together, Anna presents an offer they can’t refuse with a rent-free room in the family home. This is when Charlotte suspects Anna wants her boy back for good. Convinced she is out to destroy their marriage; Charlotte has a surprise that was about to bring them closer together or rip their relationship apart.
As tensions mount and Anna digs her claws in, Charlotte discovers a hidden family secret, but Anna’s manipulative nature ensures no one would believe her. Charlotte must survive a wave of cruelties and play the most vindictive mother-in-law she’s ever encountered at her own sinister game if her marriage is to survive a mother who can’t let go of the past.
Anna will stop at nothing to get what she wants…
When I hear of a psychological thriller that’s been released from J. A Andrews, I know I have to read it. I haven’t read every single book by him but the books I have read have all been really great reads. His Mother’s Lies sounded just my type of book, so without further ado, I started reading. I definitely enjoyed reading His Mother’s Lies which is ‘a psychological thriller packed with intent’. Whoever thought that line up definitely got it right.
Told from the perspectives of the three main characters, Charlotte, Ethan, and Anna. Anna is Ethans mother, and Charlotte is her daughter-in-law. They end up living with Anna. Charlotte doubts her mother in law because she seems very controlling and manipulative. Anna feels she is only looking after her son, and she will always be the first and number one woman in his life. The way the author writes this story, you feel like you are actually in all three of the characters’ heads. The way he has interwoven the three perspectives is so skilful.
As Anna becomes more desperate to keep her son and Charlotte fights to have Ethan to herself, the tension and menace builds so well.
Unreliable characters had me second guessing every move and motive. The way the author has written this book is excellent. I was hanging on to every word as the chapters whizzed by. I couldn’t help but wonder what was coming next in this twisty and tense amd at times creepy tale!
The final shock was like a bomb dropping and a perfect ending to this brilliantly written psychological thriller. As always, I loved this latest book by J.A Andrews.
