Today, it’s the turn of S.E Lynes’ new book, The Summer Holiday. Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the ebook so I can write my honest review.

One loving couple. One surprise guest. One week to destroy everything…
When the doorbell rings, I take one last look round the villa. The nuts and olives are in bowls; the white wine is chilling in the fridge; everything is ready for my old college friend, the guest I’m dying to impress.
When I open the door, Coco steps from the dusty street into the cool tiled hall, as effortlessly beautiful as ever. But then her face freezes in horror, her mouth falling open. I turn to see my husband Jeff behind me, his eyes wide, his cheeks pale.
After a moment, they both smile, pretending nothing happened at all. But I know what I saw.
This holiday was meant to rescue my marriage, not ruin it.
But the connection between my friend and my husband isn’t what I thought.
All three of us have something to lose, and something to fight for.
And when the truth comes out, not all of us will survive…
From the no.1 bestselling author S.E. Lynes comes a brilliantly gripping thriller that will have you racing through the pages and gasping out loud at the twists. Fans of Paula Hawkins, Lisa Jewell and Gillian Flynn will love The Summer Holiday.
Whenever S.E Lynes releases a book, the first question in my mind is, when can I read it? The Summer Holiday is yet another suspenseful psychological thriller that’s an addictive read.
The story is told by the three main characters of married couple Kate and Jeff, and Coco. Kate and Jeff are on their first holiday alone, but Jeff spends the majority of his time working. Kate is out and bumps into Coco, a woman who she knew when she was at university. She invites Coco back to their house. When Coco arrives and meets Jeff, Kate can’t help but notice they both look shocked to see each other. Kate decides she is going to find out why, no matter what happens.
Told in alternating chapters by Kate, Jeff, and Coco, which gave me an insight into each of them. They were all flawed characters and not entirely likeable the majority of the time. This added to the twisted tale they tell. I liked being privy to each of their secrets. I felt like I was in their heads throughout.
A tense tale that slowly becomes tauter as the story unfolds. Each character is so well developed and unique, with secrets that increase the suspense so much. As well as a setting that’s so atmospheric. Everything together creates a book that I couldn’t tear myself away from. Just when you think the twists are over, S.E. Lynes brings a twist that is so unexpected! An excellent read and another winner from this author.
