Welcome back, everyone! I’m back with my stop on the Rachel’s Random Resources blog tour for Changing Times For The Harpers by Rosie Clarke. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for my gifted ebook to write my honest review.

London Spring 1920
Harpers is beginning to flourish once more after the end of the war but for Sally Harper the problems continue.
Husband Ben is moody, sometimes distant, and she feels he is shutting her out at home and at work, but why?
It takes a terrible tragedy to make them realise their love and respect is still true.
The ladies and girls who work at Harpers continue to battle with problems in their own lives.
Marion is still trying to reach her war-damaged husband and Lilly is battling with her pain and shame.
It’s a period of transition for all.
The doors of Harpers are busy welcoming new and returning staff whilst bidding a fond farewell to others.
This is the beginning of a new era and there is a fresh buzz of excitement in the air.

The seventh book in the Welcome To The Harpers Emporium series. Changing Times At Harpers is a welcome return for me. I adore this series and the characters. Rosie Clarke is an author whose work I return to time and time again.
It’s now 1920, and although the First World War is over, the fallout isn’t. We see men literally altered, a shadow of their former selves before the war. The women suffer in a different way. The freedom they found during the war is now curtailed again. We see the Women’s Movement coming to the fore and calling for change.
Harpers is now picking back up, with customers and stock coming slowly back. There are plenty of changes afoot, too. People are leaving, and some have got married as well. As always, we see a few new characters arriving. It’s always great getting to know them all as the story unfolds.
What I particularly like about this series is that the Harpers Emporium treats everyone like family, and I even feel like part of them. This book brings the joys and the sadness that arrive after any conflict for various reasons. Rosie Clarke depicts this time so expertly. I was feeling everything along with the characters. They all feel like real people to me. They have done for a long time.
That’s the skill of this author. She can weave a tale so skilfully that the reader can find themselves in tears so easily or laughing along with everyone. A historical fiction saga that I return to time and time again. I can’t recommend it highly enough!
