Hi everyone! Today, I’m super excited to host my stop on the blog tour for A New Year For The Seaside Girls by Tracy Baines. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for my stop on the tour and the gifted ebook in order to write an honest review.

Can the Seaside Girls embrace the new year with courage…

Cleethorpes – 1940

As the new year dawns the show at the Empire comes to an end and it’s time for the girls to move on.

Years of struggle are over for Frances O’ Leary when Johnny Randolph returns to make things right for her and their daughter – do they have a chance of happiness? of being a family after so long?

But their good fortune is fraught with complications when sister Ruby Randolph decides to have her last hurrah, leaving a trail of devastation in her wake.
Jessie Delaney is afraid to follow her dreams and leave those she loves behind – can she really have it all?

All the seaside girls have their own battles to fight. And while they figure things out it’s time for them to do their bit for the war and keep Britain smiling.

A gritty and heart-warming saga perfect for readers of Elaine Everest, Nancy Revell and Pam Howes.

Tracy Baines writes a story that holds me from beginning to end. I have read a few of her books from the different series she has published. Every book has taken me back to the period that the certain book is set. This time, I was looking forward to settling down with a New Year for the Seaside Girls.

The third book in the Seaside Girls series. Set in Cleethorpes during 1940. This series revolves around Jessie, Frances, and Ginny. Three women who star in the variety shows at the Empire theatre during the wat years.

This time, it’s about Frances and her daughter, Imogen. Her father, Johnny Randolph, wants to meet Imogen, who was kept from him by his mother and sister, Ruby. They hid the letters Frances would send him, so he had no idea of any news from her. Now, Ruby is remorseful, and she struggles with her choices from the past. Can Ruby recover from everything in the past? Or will she let it all overcome her?

This story concentrates a lot on Ruby and her struggles. Tracy Baines brings the highly sensitive issue of mental health and successfully weaves it into this historical saga. The research is evident from the authentic feel to the story. I am always time travelling when I read one of her books.

I do get immersed in historical fiction and sagas. History is something I thoroughly enjoy learning about and appreciate. Especially when it’s wrapped nicely in an entertaining and captivating story. Tracy Baines has the skill to make characters come to life. This makes it feel like you could know them and, in a sense, bring history closer than you think.

Another superbly written tale from Tracy Baines. I just hope there is another one in the pipeline
