Liz Mistry – End Game @rararesources @LizMistryAuthor #EndGame #DetectiveNikkiParekhSeries #Bookreview #rararesources #blogtour #SharonBTB

Welcome back, everyone! I am super excited to be part of the blog tour for Liz Mistry’s latest release, End Game. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Liz Mistry for both my spot on the tour and the copy of the book.

Four dead bodies. One missing person. Let the game begin.

When an anonymous tip-off leads Detective Nikki Parekh and DS Sajid Malik to the sprawling Salinger estate, Nikki’s senses are on high alert. The brutal murder of all four members of the Salinger family has shocked the sleepy Bradford village to the core.

A mother, father, daughter, and son. . .  all killed in exactly the same way – whilst sat around the coffee table, playing a game of monopoly.

But Nikki notices that there are five pieces on the board. One of the players is missing… Did they manage to escape the killer, or was the killer part of the game?

Book number six in the Detective Nikki Parekh series but one that can be read as a standalone, too. This is a series I can’t get enough of. Liz Mistry writes in such a way that I love returning to Nikki and her colleagues, time and time again.

End Game began in a way that instantly had me hooked. Then, to cement my position of being glued to the Kindle, Nikki and Saj are investigating an anonymous tip off. This leads them to discover that all four member of the Salinger family have been murdered. All while playing a game of monopoly around the coffee table.

Then Nikki notices there are five play pieces on the board. One player isn’t present. Have they got away? Are they the killer? Nikki, Saj, and the team have a case on their hands here. Can they find the missing person and find out the part they played, if any, in the murder of this family?

As if this wasn’t enough, there is the issue of child trafficking and abductions. Nikki is tested to her limits with these cases. I must say, this is a darker story, with the heartbreaking tale of Marnie, a child snatched from her family and straight into the hands of a child Prostitution ring. It is harrowing to read of the way these kids are treated, especially when you have children and are all too aware these things happen on a daily basis. It brings home just how prolific this heinous act is.

Liz Mistry has taken something that’s too hard to think about. Done her usual, thorough research and woven a tale that is so relevant to today’s society. I don’t have triggers, but I even felt a tear forming at the treatment of the children.

Every book that is released in this series gets better. I always think that Liz Mistry’s can’t improve any more, then, End Game is released! It’s excellently written, and I was kept guessing. There are some great red herrings that threw me, of course, until the end. A series that is one I keep returning to. One, I will always eagerly wait for the next book in the series to arrive. I can’t recommend this highly enough. Now I’m off to reread the first 5 books again.

Author Bio

Liz Mistry

Born in Scotland made in Bradford sums up LIZ MISTRY’s life. Over thirty-five years ago she moved from a small village in West Lothian to Yorkshire to get her teaching degree. Once here, Liz fell in love with three things: curries, the rich cultural diversity of the city… and her Indian husband (not necessarily in this order). Now thirty years, three children, Scumpy, the cat, and a huge extended family later, Liz uses her experiences of living and working in the inner city to flavour her writing. Her gritty crime fiction police procedural novels set in Bradford embrace the city she describes as ‘Warm, Rich and Fearless’, whilst exploring the darkness that lurks beneath.

Having struggled with severe clinical depression and anxiety for many years, Liz often includes mental health themes in her writing. She credits the MA in Creative Writing she took at Leeds Trinity University with helping her find a way of using her writing to navigate her ongoing mental health struggles. Liz’s PhD research contributes significantly to debates concerning issues of inclusion and diversity of representation within the most socially engaged genre of contemporary crime fiction Being a debut novelist in her fifties was something Liz had only dreamed of and she counts herself lucky, whilst pinching herself regularly to make sure it’s all real.
