Welcome back! I’m on the book tour for Infinity Gate by M.R Carey. Thanks to Tracy Fenton and Orbit Books for the gifted physical copy of the book. From the international bestselling M. R. Carey comes a thrilling novel set in the multiverse – the tale of humanity’s expansion across millions of dimensions, and the AI technology that might see it all come to an end . . .
INFINITY IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.
The Pandominion: a political and trading alliance of a million worlds – except that they’re really just the one world, Earth, in many different realities. And when an AI threat arises that could destroy everything the Pandominion has built, they’ll eradicate it by whatever means necessary, no matter the cost to human life.
Scientist Hadiz Tambuwal is looking for a solution to her own Earth’s environmental collapse when she stumbles across the secret of inter-dimensional travel. It could save everyone on her dying planet, but now she’s walked into the middle of a war on a scale she never dreamed of.
And she needs to choose a side before it kills her.

First up, this is my first book by M.R Carey. Yes, I now know what I have been missing! The synopsis sounded so intriguing, so I had to see what I thought. Knowing it would be a complex read, I made sure I had spare time to totally take everything in and, hopefully, understand what was happening. I must admit, I needed more time than I originally thought.
The setting is Earth, but in a multiverse that has an infinite number of Earths. The earth we know is dying, and the scientist Hadiz Tambuwal has coincidentally invented the technology to move from one earth in the multiverse to another. The artificial intelligence of the time, Rupshe helps with this.
Altogether, there are three main characters, Hadiz, Essen, and Topaz. Essen lives on an earth that’s not so different or faraway from our Earth. Topaz is from an Earth named Ut, where the Uti (rabbits) are the dominating species due to their intelligence. I liked the way M.R. Carey told their stories. Each characters thread had a lot of depth, so I found I invested in all three throughout.
While we learn of our characters, we also find out about the Pandominion and the Ansurrection organisations that are at war. As this epic tale slowly unfolds, it becomes apparent that Hadiz, Essen, and Topaz are all being brought together to escape or fight against Pandominion and Ansurrection.
This is a solid, complex, and superbly written start to the series. M.R. Carey spends so much of the book setting the groundwork. Making the characters ones the reader invests and detailing everything needed to understand and want to know more about this multiverse.
The final third of the book really heats up. With everything in place, the pace changes a little, and the twists the author places here really kept me on my toes! I was glued to Infinity Gate. Such a multi layered book that consumed me for every second. If I wasn’t reading it, I was definitely thinking about it. The conclusion left me with so much to think about! I really am looking forward to the next book and wondering where the author is going next.
All in all, it was a novel that captivated, intrigued, and consumed me. I lived and breathed Infinity Gate even after I finished reading it.
