Well! I have read so many books, and I occasionally wonder if I will get bored with crime/police procedurals. Then, a book like this comes along. This makes me realise that there are some excellent authors I still have the chance of discovering. Desmond. P. Ryan is one of those authors.
10-33 Assist PC is such an awesome read. It is so clear that the author has a wealth of personal experience in what he has written about. We meet Detective Constable Mike O’Shea. He leads the Juvenile Prostitution Task Force in Toronto along with his team. Every single detail was authentic. The story hooked me immediately. I felt like I was with them constantly, watching them as they worked together as the banter flowed between them.
It’s quite a rollercoaster of a read, too. I think I went through every emotion while reading this book. One minute, I could be laughing at the characters’ actions and the next shouting at them. If you read this book, prepare for tears too. Everything is so realistic. It feels like it could be happening in front of you.
I tore through 10-33 Assist PC so fast. I read this in a day and wasn’t happy to be leaving Mike and the team so soon. I’m so glad I had the second book to start reading anyway. I do hope Desmond. P. Ryan keeps this series going for as long as possible. I’m sure he has enough experience in the field too. If you appreciate and enjoy an authentic, action-packed story, this could be a great read for you! I really do recommend 10-33 Assist PC.

Author Bio
Born and raised in Toronto, Desmond P. Ryan graduated from UofT and joined what was then the Toronto Police Force. He has been a front-line officer, a beat cop, a patrol sergeant, an instructor at the Toronto Police College, and a detective over the almost thirty years of his career.
Whether as a beat cop or a plainclothes detective, Desmond dealt with good people who did bad things and bad people who followed their instincts. Now a retired detective, he writes crime fiction. Des is presently working on the Mike O’Shea Series and the Mary-Margaret Series, both published by Level Best Books.
Desmond lives in the Toronto neighbourhood known as Cabbagetown, where he can be seen wandering about, considering his next plot point or on his way to the pub.
