A psychological thriller from a new author to me. I had no idea just how good this book was going to be. I had no expectations when I started reading. It surprised me just how great a read it was.
Kate is a woman who is lacking in her own life. She thinks her husband is having an affair,so her job in the mail room of a prison gives her the excitement she needs. This leads to her fixation on an inmate and her correspondence with her partner. She obsesses to the point that it threatens everything. How far will Kate go to save her family?
Omg! What a twisty, tense tale this is. I was absolutely glued to this book. Every character was created so well. Every twist had me reading all the faster. I couldn’t get enough of Kate’s story. We learn of her life, work, and personal issues that almost every family on this earth can empathise with. A teen in the family brings drama alone, and Harper, Kate’s stepdaughter, brings plenty.
I don’t overly like using the words ‘ an emotional rollercoaster’. But I felt like I could have been, as this story unfolded so swiftly in front of my eyes. The effortless turns this tale took as I turned the pages surprised me so many times. Then when I thought Jamie-Lee Brooke couldn’t find anything else to throw into the mix. Along comes the ending! I did not expect it at all. Talk about blowing my mind!
This is the second book that I have heard of from this author. I already have the first book I heard of from her, and I have now promised myself I will read the other book I have sooner rather than later! If it’s half as good as this one, I will truly love it!

Author Bio
Jamie-Lee Brooke is the pen name of Brooke Venables who lives with her twin sons in the Worcestershire area. She is an author of both horror and thrillers and works as a dental nurse which gives her plenty of scope to imagine putting people in uncomfortable situations. She loves her job and takes great satisfaction in helping people to smile.
Jamie-Lee’s biggest achievement to date is graduating after studying with the Open University for six years, achieving a BA Honours in Humanities with classical studies and creative writing. It was no mean feat whilst working and being a mum to twins who both have autism and learning difficulties.
