Julia Sutton – Love In The Spotlight @ZooloosBT @sparklyauthor #LoveInTheSpotlight #booktour #bookreview #SharonBTB

Hey all! I’m back! Yet again! This time with my book tour review for Love In The Spotlight by Julia Sutton. With many thanks to ZooLoo’s Book Tours and Julia Sutton for the copy of the book to take part in the tour.

When Elizabeth Ryan is demoted on Christmas Eve, she resigns herself to a dismal future: selling kitchen utensils in a large department store.

The New Year looks bleak, but a chance encounter on a karaoke evening at her local pub introduces her to the glittering world of showbiz. The Rebels are an up-and-coming pop band who are preparing for a whirlwind tour of the UK. After some persuasion, Elizabeth auditions and is astonished when she is taken on as their backing singer.

Leaving her sleepy Cornish fishing village behind, Elizabeth moves to the manic noise of London. Catapulted into a world of fame, will she succeed in the dazzling world of music and open her heart once more to the possibility of love?

This book is just what I needed. A rom-com that took me away from everything for the time it took me to read it. It is such a page turner that I had read it far too soon.

After finding herself demoted to the utensil department, which happens to be in the basement, from the lingerie department at work. Elizabeth feels like she can’t get any lower. Just by chance, after singing karaoke with her friends. The DJ gives her details of a band who wants backing singers. Elizabeth decides to throw caution in the wind and decides to try for the job. To her own surprise, she is offered the job AND takes it too! It’s time for a change for this woman and maybe a bit of romance along the way.

Elizabeth was such a great character. A widow with three adult children, she was a woman whom I would love to be friends with. I loved seeing her branch out and make new friends, especially with Melody, the other backing singer. Then there is Jason, the tour manager. Their journey starts with Elizabeth thinking he dislikes her and moves on from there.

I enjoyed everything about this book. The characters were all well developed, and the feel-good storyline just made it a read that basically made my day. I found myself smiling as the story unfolded. Even the serious subjects that were explored didn’t make this a heavy read.

Love In The Spotlight is a well written, heartwarming read. I really don’t know how I have missed Julia Suttons books, but I plan to make sure I read other books by her. If this book is anything to go by, I am going to be adding to my teetering tbr pile. If you, like me, need to escape from your life for a while, this book will definitely do that for you!
