Catherine Fearns – Sound

‘Sound’ by Catherine Fearns is the third book in the reprobation series. A thriller that takes us back to D.I Swift and Liverpool where there is a trial due to take place. We are already acquainted with the characters from book one and two, so we can just settle back and enjoy the ride we will discover in this story.

Catherine Fearns

This is a book that can be a standalone as everything is brought up that is needed to know. The only thing I would say is, if you read the series in order you really understand the motivations and ideas of Swift and Helen particularly. For me, this multiplies my enjoyment of each book as I go through the series.
Again, we are met with a multi-layered, interwoven tale and here people are becoming sick on a local estate. There are again a detailed story of ancient texts. We also discover psychoacoustics too. All this and heavy metal music too, all with murder and crime being the constants.

What I have noticed about this series is every book is as fast-moving as the last and every single ending has been created to keep us involved and surprise us. Catherine Fearns has the skill to manage this and weave her magic to keep us turning the pages.
The descriptions of Liverpool are as always beautifully written and as we know excellently researched. Catherine has the knack of mixing fictional and truth and making it believable at every minute.

A definite series to try, as I always say..with every book in the series I have said it and I will keep saying it if there are more I am sure!

Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Catherine Fearns for my copy of the book.
