A psychological thriller that’s by an author whose work I look forward to reading. T.J. Emerson newest release The Ideal Man has a cover and blurb that just cries out. “Read Me!” I was glad when I could settle down and read.
Told from multiple perspectives, this is the story of three women and Sandy, a man who is released from prison, where he served his sentence for rape. The three women: his daughter, Collette, his new girlfriend, Lynne, and Jane, the woman he raped all have their own views of Sandy. Is he a victim or perpetrator?
Set in France where Collette is attempting to help her dad readjust to life outside prison. She begins to discover who her dad really is as the story develops. The fact that she has never met Lynne, who is his new girlfriend, is not a great start, and it goes from there.
A cast of characters whom T.J. Emerson has created well. I was in these women’s heads, and I actually cared what happened to them. Her storytelling just had me glued to the book! I couldn’t stop at any point. The pages turned so fast. The tension was built constantly, so I was eager to know how it would pan out.
It is a thrilling, compulsive, and atmospheric read that I recommend if you love a great psychological thriller!
