A fantasy story by a new author to me, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I do love fantasy be it young adult or adult, high or low. So I was quite looking forward to seeing what this book had in store for me.
We meet Raven, an eighteen year old coyote shapeshifter. After bring attacked by her boyfriend she is saved by a tattooed man whom she becomes obsessed with. We see Raven having to find her own path after tragedy strikes.
A story that’s based on the Navajo legend of Ma’ii. It’s well written and the plot is most skilfully set out. I got behind Raven straight away. I felt quite protective of her at times as well. I always enjoy a book with characters described well enough for me to feel like I am with them as I read. The world building was vivid and I felt like I was there with Raven from start to finish.
Crammed with action alongside the mystery, suspense and romance. I was so interested in how it would all pan out, that I lost track of time and I was on the final page. An immersive fantasy story that I can recommend to any reader who enjoys a shapeshifter fantasy book.
