Hi all! I’m back! This time with a review for the psychological thriller The Narrator by K.L Slater! Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for the copy of this book to take part in the tour.
What if the chance of a perfect life… put your daughter in grave danger?
Being a single mother is tough, but I’d do anything for my little girl Scarlet. I’d given up on my career as a voice actor when the call came, but suddenly I was the new narrator for a secret book from bestselling author Philippa Roberts, who has been missing for eight months. It was a lifeline for me and my daughter.
I hated that it meant leaving Scarlet with my ex in his perfect new home with his perfect new girlfriend. But I knew it was the right thing to do.
But as I start reading Philippa’s new novel, I start to wonder if it’s no coincidence that I’ve been chosen to narrate it. There’s something hidden in the pages of this book, I’m sure of it. Some clue to Philippa’s disappearance. And I don’t feel safe. I think I’m being watched. My room has been searched.
And then my ex’s girlfriend calls in tears and everything starts to click together. If I don’t find answers fast, I’ll lose more than my second chance. I’ll lose my daughter.
A completely gripping thriller that will hook you in from the first page and leave you gasping out loud. Fans of Our House, The Woman in the Window and The Wife Between Us won’t be able to put The Narrator down!
Another edge of your seat psychological thriller from K.L Slater. As soon as I saw she had a new book coming I knew I just had to read it. Every book she has written has always been a fantastic read, so I did have quite high expectations from The Narrator.
Well K.L Slater didn’t let me down! This story was one that had me guessing throughout. The characters themselves were ones who had me wondering who I should be cheering on or not. The writing, again was superb. I couldn’t guess what would be coming next, or even who was responsible for what was happening. Even when I thought I knew, I was totally wrong. The amount of suspense in this story was second to none.
As the pages sped by and the story unfolded I found myself none the wiser as K.L Slater kept the tension high and the suspense to the max. As always she had me addicted to this book as the twists kept coming. Then the one twist that blindsided me arrived, along with the conclusion! Brilliantly done and it finished the book of perfectly.
Yes, expect to need to abandon all jobs if you pick up this book! It’s addictive, immersive and all consuming at times. Another story that proves K.L Slater is, to me, a top psychological thriller writer! I was shaking my head at times with the red herrings within the story. A highly recommended read!
