I am so honoured to have Sincere Deceit by Jane Badrock on my blog tonight. Thanks to Jane Badrock for my copy of the book. Here is my honest and unbiased review of Sincere Deceit.

When Michael’s mother dies ,Frances falls in love with his family home and Michael falls in love with her.

They marry but when Frances falls pregnant she changes.
Her strange behaviour stirs up buried painful childhood memories for Michael.
As his past catches up with him, his luck begins to run out.

In a downward spiral there is only person who can help him, Frances.

But will she save him
Or
Will she destroy him…

A standalone psychological thriller is the latest book by Jane Badrock. I hold my hands up before I start and will state now, I love Jane’s writing. Sincere Deceit was a book I had no clue about when I began reading. I hadn’t read the blurb and only seen the cover. I really crossed my fingers that I would enjoy this book as much as her other ones.

Michael Greaves is a man who has it all. He is a charismatic charmer at the top of his game. He has a successful career and is close to his work colleagues too. He doesn’t want tying down at all. He is the womaniser to beat all womanisers…and then Frances arrives in his life. He falls, and falls hard. The man who would have run away if someone had mentioned marriage and kids suddenly finds himself exactly that! They even move back into his old family home. Frances announces she is pregnant and things go downhill from there.

Jane Badrock has so skilfully woven a tale of the unravelling of one man’s psyche. As I started this book I didn’t like Michael, his values or anything about him. Then, as the story slowly unfolded I realised he was such an unreliable character too. Although, I must say I didn’t know who I could trust. I was constantly questioning everyone’s motivations.

I have to say the twists and red herrings had me convinced one way, then the other. I didn’t know what to think at one point. I did have ideas but, seriously, when it all came tumbling out it was a shocker in a few ways. I was gobsmacked!

This is a page turner for sure. I read it so fast. I read one chapter one evening, then picked it back up the day after and sped through it that same day. I was so wrapped up in Michael’s world I just had to see how it would pan out! Well done Jane on another brilliant book! Keep on writing.

Author Bio

Jane Badrock

Jane writes novels, short stories and poems, usually with a good dose of humour in them. She’s probably owes it all to her late grandmother who, she’s just found out, also wrote short stories and poems. She tends to get an idea and then run with it whether it be a 100 word short story or an 80 thousand word novel. It all depends on the voices in her head at the time…
