Valerie Keogh, is, for me, an author who never writes a bad book. I always have to read her latest as soon as I can. This was the case with The Widow. As soon as I got it I had to start reading right away.
Another psychological thriller that I read in one day! With a main character that’s interesting to say the least and characters that aren’t necessarily likable. It’s a dark, thrilling and suspenseful read. Allison has been married to Peter for a few months when he tragically dies. She finds herself a Widow, one with dark secrets. Then she discovers Peter had his very own secrets too.
A gripping, addictive and multi-layered story. Characters that are unstable and complicated at the very least aid in the creation of a chilling story full of twists you can’t second guess. As Allison’s secrets started being slowly uncovered I just couldn’t put it down. The tension just increased constantly until it got to the point of me sitting on the edge of the chair just flipping the pages so fast.
The amount of books Valerie Keogh has written, you would think the quality of her writing would slip at some point. Not this woman. She just gets better with time. She so skilfully draws the reader into her fast-paced stories. The Widow is one such book. I can’t recommend this book highly enough. If you have never read a Valerie Keogh book you are missing out.
