Julia Roberts – The Dilemma @bookouture @JuliaRobertsTV #TheDilemma #SharonBTB

I’m thrilled to bring you my review on the Bookouture tour for The Dilemma by Julia Roberts. Thanks to Bookouture for my place on the tour and NetGalley for the ARC.

My child means everything to me. But saving his life means destroying my best friend’s family…

I didn’t plan to fall pregnant, but when I found out, I was overjoyed. Even though I’d be going it alone, I swore I’d give my baby everything they needed.

But I didn’t know who the man I met on that sweltering summer night, the father of my child, really was.

I decided to keep his secret to protect the innocent… but then my beautiful baby was born with a rare illness, desperately needing a transplant.

Now, as I gaze into my son’s wide and trusting eyes, I know the choice I have to make: for the sake of my precious little boy, I have to destroy my friend’s happiness.

But when the truth comes out, what if saving my baby means losing him forever?

An absolutely gripping and emotional read about the choices and sacrifices we make for those we love. Fans of Liane Moriarty, Amanda Prowse and Susan Lewis will love The Dilemma.

The Dilemma is an emotional tale that is written so skilfully. Exploring themes of friendship, the love we have for our children and more. I was glued to the book from the start.

With echoes of Jodi Picoult, my heart broke for Charlotte. The struggle to have a child is a heartbreaking one. When she has her son George, she is only too aware it will be a one woman job to bring him up. When he needs a transplant to save his life, she discovers she is unable be a donor. Her moral dilemma is – if she goes to his father, she will tear apart her own world and that of those close to her. What would you do to save the life of your child?

Julia Roberts takes the reader back to Charlotte’s life before she has George. The torture she goes through every month is palpable. Her grief every time her test reult is negative pours of the page. I was drawn into this womans life and her deep need for a child. I understood it, even though I haven’t had issues like this, my daughter has and I know how she felt. The devastation that marks every month is heartbreaking. Then George needs his transplant and she is faced with the impossible choice. This leads to a story full of twisty suspense as secrets begin to tumble out affecting everyone around her.

The author had me in the palm of her hand throughout this story. Her characters made me believe in them, faults and all. I was invested in Charlotte and her friends too. I was with her all the way.

A book that makes the reader think, well, it did me and I was still thinking about it after I had closed the book. I was left thinking I need to read more of Julia Robert’s work soon.
