My first read from Kathryn Barrett and it is one that has truly made me want to read more from her. A romantic comedy that has a little bit more of a political side to it too. As I begin to read I wondered what it had in store for me.
Adam Dybik is what’s been dubbed by the Washington press, the ‘accidental’ President. He agreed to run for President during the country’s worst crisis. Now the country is a little more stable, he is finding his teenage daughter as hard to deal with! Katie is 14 and loves nothing more than dumping her security and letting her dad know he couldn’t get any worse as a dad. Then there is the new head of Katie’s secret service detail, Ellie Brody. Does she have what it need to bring Katie into line?
An entertaining romance story that doesn’t just include political themes and family issues but we have the voices of dead presidents too! I had such fun reading this. It’s not a run of the mill plot and made me want to discover how everything would pan out for them all.
Well rounded characters that I found realistic and likable, specially Katie. I really felt for her. A teen who just wants to go back to her old life. My heart went out to her and Adam, a President but still a father. He only wants the best for her and to keep her safe. Ellie is the one responsible for keeping Katie safe and we see how much more she has to work to get the respect of the men in her job.
This is a book that you can just relax, kick back and escape from reality with. It grabbed me from the off and has everything to make it a book I would say to try. If you like, action, romance, strong females and fun, go for it!
