Today its my turn on the virtual book tour for The Ghost Hunter by Steve Altier. Thanks to Book & Wine Lovers Marketing for the invitation, and Steve Altier for the ARC of the book to bring my unbiased and honest review.

At sixteen, Gerald Dupickle faces his worst fear . . . college!
Awkward and shy, Gerald desperately wants to be part of the popular crowd—something he couldn’t accomplish in high school.
Gerald does his best to avoid the campus bullies, but after a brief run-in with the boys who wear black, he realizes things aren’t always what they appear to be.
After a ghostly encounter in the library, it’s the boys in black who come to his rescue. Fang and his team quickly realize Gerald has a gift—one that attracts ghosts.
But what happens when Gerald’s normal becomes paranormal?
Legend has it, a terrifying presence stalks the halls of the Blue Owl Inn, a decaying Victorian mansion. On his first ghost hunt, it’s Gerald who draws Lily out of hiding. Mesmerized that ghosts truly live amongst us, Gerald sets out to do more than just prove that they exist—he wants to help the spirits cross over to the other side.
But do the spirits want his help?
Steve Altier is at his chilling best in this new supernatural tale that’s certain to send shivers down the reader’s spine.

I always love a spooky read and a Young Adult paranormal novel is perfect for this time of year! I have never come across this author before so didn’t go into this book with any expectations. I just hoped it would tick a few of my boxes so I would enjoy it.
Gerald is a smart sixteen year old, so smart he is starting college at sixteen. All he wants is friends which he never found in High School. Oh, he finds them alright, he finds his college friends in a group of ghost hunters. They investigate all sorts of different places and along the way, discover Gerald has his own gift.
A spooky but not overly scary read that I found a really fast paced story. That fast I read it in next to no time. Steve Altiers made Gerald so real, my maternal side was there. His fear of no friends at college tugged on my heartstrings and I was happy he found his people. I never gave it a thought that we would have any special gifts, it was almost like it was fated to happen.
I enjoyed the fact that the story began in a mild way with the paranormal interwoven into it quite cleverly. Then as the plot unfolded everything started to ramp up and it felt like the pages could have turned themselves,or the spirits could have been turning them! You never know!! With a physic for a husband it could have been.
A fantastic read for the weeks running up to Halloween. One I thoroughly enjoyed. Recommended if you like your books spooky with a relatable MC.
