The third book in the gritty gangland series called Allegiance. I would say if you are planning ro read this book, read the series in order. You get a better insight to the characters, motivations, and of course continuity.
This book carries on the story of Sam Reynolds and Seb Stoker, originally business adversaries but now in love. They know that not everybody will be as happy as they are in their relationship so, for now it’s on the downlow. It seems that jealousy is all the rage and there are certain people who are out to make Sam pay, permanently. Will they succeed or will they be thwarted before it gets to that?
Edie Baylis always writes gritty and addictive stories. Vendetta is no exception. The action starts right away so the reader is swept up into the drama that is Vendetta. I loved returning to catch up with what would happen next. From the minute I began to read I was immersed and didn’t surface until I had actually finished! I just couldn’t tear myself away until I found out how it would all pan out.
The characters, new and old, are ones you either love or hate. To be honest, there are some vile creatures in this book. Edie Baylis creates characters that are so vivid and unique too. I always look forward to returning to an Edie Baylis book whichever one it is.
As always, she doesn’t shy away from hard to handle topics. Vendetta brings prostitution, violence and drugs amongst other things. It was a hard read in parts, I shall say that and my heart went out for some of the characters as the story unfolded.
Yet another brilliant addition to the series. I can’t wait to rejoin Sam and Seb for the next instalment.

Edie Baylis a successful self-published author of dark gritty thrillers with violent background settings. She lives in Worcestershire, has a history of owning daft cars and several motorbikes and is licensed to run a pub. She has signed a five-book deal with Boldwood and the first book in her new ganglit series, set in Birmingham, was published in January 2022.
