Rosie Hendry – A Wartime Welcome at Rookery House @rararesources @hendry_rosie #AWartimeWelcomeAtRookeryHouse #SharonBTB

I’m thrilled to be on the blog tour for A Wartine Welcome At Rookery House by Rosie Hendry. Thanks to Rachel Gilbey of Rachel’s Random Resources and Rosie Henry for the copy of the book.

Follow the much-loved characters from the award winning MOTHER’S DAY CLUB in a brand-new World War Two saga series.

October 1940

When VAD nurse Evie narrowly avoids being killed in an air raid during the Blitz, it propels her to make a life-changing decision to break free of her troubled and unhappy life. She escapes to the Norfolk countryside to start afresh, with a job at the newly opened Great Plumstead Hall hospital, and a wonderful new home at Rookery House.

The community of Great Plumstead welcomes more evacuees to the village – mothers and children bombed out of their London homes. Sisters Prue and Thea, along with members of The Mother’s Day Club, help the new arrivals settle in, while continuing their work for the war effort by holding knitting bees, socials and doing WVS work.

Evie is happy in her new life – she loves living at Rookery House and enjoys her job at the hospital, despite working for the difficult Matron Reed. But when a patient arrives who knew her in her former life, Evie’s new-found freedom and happiness is in danger. Will the secrets of Evie’s past be revealed, and the problems from her old life return to trouble her once more?

Another heartwarming saga from Rosie Hendry which means another story for me to dive right into. I have to say that no matter what she releases, it’s always guaranteed to be a fabulous read.

A Wartime Welcome at Rookery House turned out to be exactly that. Another Wartime saga that brings with it difficult issues that tugged at my heartstrings straightaway. With heartbreak and the loss of loved ones, the evacuated children, everything that makes war the horror it is for the ones left at home. It made for an emotional and immersive read.

I was transported right back to the War years reading this. Rosie Hendry can write a story so detailed that I always find myself drawn in to the time period the books set in. Her characters spring to life from the pages. The fully fleshed out characters are all with their own voices and make you want to get to know them.

This story is one that demonstrates what strength it took to get through this time. The communities at this time played such a massive part in getting the people through this time, and it is portrayed so well in A Wartime Welcome At Rookery House. It was so nice to read about it.

A historical Wartime saga that swept me away from my life for the length of time it took me to read. I am so looking forward to the next instalment and seeing what’s next for everyone.
