A massive thank you to Rachel Gilbey of Rachel’s Random Resources for my invitation to the blog tour and also the ARC for The Wedding Cake by Isabella May.
One summer in Spain.
One accidentally double-booked eight-tier wedding cake that needs to put in a same day appearance at a rustic countryside finca AND a beachside villa.
Two brides.
Two grooms.
Hundreds of hungry guests.
Freya Ashcroft, owner and culinary whizz at Marbella’s five star bakery, is going to need a miracle to ‘save the date’.
If only that was her sole dilemma – as luck wouldn’t have it, she’s also fallen head over heels in love with one of the aforementioned male clients…

A new Isabella May book is always a treat to be looked forward too. The Wedding Cake is definitely one such treat. Set in Spain, this is a romantic read no one should miss.
Isabella’s books always have a food theme, sweet of course! This time it’s wedding cake, Freya creates the most delicious and gorgeous wedding cakes in Marbella. They sounded that good I almost had to go and buy myself some nice cake just to make up for not having Freya’s cake.
For me the brilliant part of the book was catching up with River and Alice from previous books of Isabella May’s. I won’t give too much away but I was so happy to see how they were getting on. Isabella May writes her books as standalones but there are recurring characters that, if you do read them all you can keep up with some characters as the stories play out. I always enjoy this and it adds a little something extra.
Freya is a character who I took to my heart. A lovely woman who does anything for anyone even when she is taken for a ride by others. I thought her journey throughout the book was great to be witness to. This was a setting that made me want to be there with everyone. Isabella May always brings her setting to vivid life with her excellent descriptive skills and she did it again.
A book that’s great fun, with romance, cake and sun that will make great company on a summer holiday.

Author Bio

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalusia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the mountains and the sea. She grew up in Somerset on Glastonbury’s ley lines and loves to feature her quirky English hometown in her stories.
After a degree in Modern Languages and European Studies at UWE, Bristol (and a year working abroad in Bordeaux and Stuttgart), Isabella bagged an extremely jammy and fascinating job in children’s publishing… selling foreign rights for novelty, board, pop-up and non-fiction books all over the world; in every language from Icelandic to Korean, Bahasa Indonesian to Papiamento!
All of which has fuelled her curiosity and love of international food and travel – both feature extensively in her romcoms.
Isabella is also a Level 4 Pranic Healer and a stillbirth mum.
