‘The Key To Death’s Door’ by Mark Tilbury is a crime thriller with some supernatural threads weaved into the story. I always enjoy Mark’s books and this is again, no exception. I found it impossible to put down for any length of time.
We meet teenager Lee Hunter and his best mate Charlie Finch and are taken on a wondrous journey of their friendship. The story is that well written the emotions between the boys and the bond of their friendship leaps of the page to me. Two brilliantly created characters in this story. Mark is so clever at weaving his supernatural themes into his stories and we see Lee having a near-death scenario and he leaves his own body and finds himself living another life, well, this is just the beginning!
I always find Mark writes stories with dark and twisted themes. You would normally think to avoid these types of stories at times, but nooo, not me! There is always a bit of humour included too which always makes me laugh, even in as twisted as a story as Mark Tilbury writes!
I think he has created a nail-biting, tense story that needs reading. I love his work that much!
