Today I am part of the blog tour for A Defiant Maiden’s Knight on behalf of Rachel’s Random Resources. Thanks to Rachel Gilbey and Mills & Boon Historical for the copy of the book to take part today.
A knight’s protection…That she doesn’t want…or need?
Joan Lovent may be losing her sight but she refuses to lose her independence too. So when Sir Warin de Talmont tells her it’s too perilous to be out alone in the city, she doesn’t pay him any heed. But with threats surrounding them, she begins to value his protection and helps with his dangerous work in return. If only the powerful connection between them wasn’t so impossible to ignore!

A brand new Medieval romance series ‘Protectors of the Crown’, a spin off from the Notorious Knights series by Melissa Oliver. It picks up straight from where the Notorious Knights finished. This is a spin off, so, if you have read any of the other series you may find you recognise some characters.
I found this book just as immersive as the previous books I’ve read by Melissa Oliver. Joan Lovent is adamant that her failing eyesight will not stop her living her life by her own rules. I loved that she was so strong and independent even with her disability. She will not let any man tell her what to do, not even Sir Warin Del Talmont, who tells her the city is too dangerous for her to be out alone. Until Joan has no choice but to go to him for protection.
Warin knows they could be in mortal danger with one wrong move. They only have each other to rely on and trust through this. As they become closer a spark is lit between them and it is only a matter of time before the spark becomes a raging fire. With so much at stake could these two possibly have a future together or will everything be too much?
Another captivating, authentic historical romance from Melissa Oliver. One in which she so vividly recreates the medieval age with all the difficulties and issues of the time. The romance and the passion along with the dangers involved, make this an enthralling read.
One woven together so skilfully that it creates a story that sweeps the reader backwards by centuries so easily. A historical romance that will had me wanting more, and now.
