I’m happy to say that today I’m on the blog tour for The Viking She Would Have Married by Lucy Morris. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Mills and Boon for my copy of the book to take part today.
In close quarters…
With the Viking she’d loved and lost
A Shieldmaiden Sisters story—with her family fallen on hard times, Valda’s forced to join the crew on Halfdan Ulfsson’s merchant ship as he sets sail on the treacherous silk route. But this handsome jarl’s son is the man she’d planned to wed, until his bitter betrayal. Knowing she can never trust him, she must focus on saving her sisters…and not the intense connection that still burns between them!
Passion erupts when these bold, spirited Vikings are reunited!

The Shieldmaiden Sisters is a brand new series by Lucy Morris. The Viking She Would Have Married, is the first book to be released. I have read Lucy Morris books before and the main character of this book, Valda, was a minor character in a different book. I found it nice to have a full book dedicated to her story.
Lucy Morris has the skill to immerse me in history. Everytime I open her books up I am transported to the time of the Vikings. I love history, be it romance, factual or whatever. Her books are always atmospheric reads, with plenty of passion.
Valda and her family have fallen on hard times and they rely on her. She realises that her only option is to do the worst possible thing she could do for herself. She will have to join Halfdan Ulssen’s crew on his merchant ship. Not only is the journey going to be long and dangerous, but she has to face the handsome Jarl’s son she was meant to marry!
He betrayed her in the absolutely worst way possible. He is a man she never wanted to see again, ever! As it seems fate has different ideas, and the passion they had is still as strong as before, can Valda really trust him? Can they move forward to a new life, or will his betrayal of her never leave her? She has to look after her sisters, first and foremost. Even if it means forging ahead without Halfdan, which will rip her apart.
Such a multi layered story that has characters so authentic and well crafted, you can’t help but feel for them. Both Halfdan and Halda tugged on my heartstrings. The fact that they truly loved each other but their pride got in the way touched me.
Lucy Morris expertly creates a reading experience that plunges you into a world of passion, drama and loyalty. The weaving together of adventure, history and romance is so seamless. I forgot about the world around me totally and felt like I was with Valda. Again the historical setting was well researched, in fact it was impeccable. All these factors along with the romance made this a book I read in one sitting.
Another Mills & Boon Historical Romance that I can easily recommend.
