I’m so happy to say I am on the tour for It’s A Widow Thing by Karen Booth. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Karen Booth for the copy of the book.
He’s on the fast-track to serious, and she’s hitting the brakes.
When cosmetics entrepreneur Sabrina Kelly waited until she was thirty-eight to marry, she never thought she’d be widowed by forty. Now, two years later, she’s ready for a dip in the dating pool. And Michael, the merciless flirt who lives down the hall, seems like a fun way to get wet. He has “player” written all over him, but Sabrina’s not looking for a love connection. Her heart can’t take more than a fling.
Wall Street mogul Michael Wright has ignored his mom’s pressure to marry for years. But it’s not until he has a health scare that he finally takes stock of his life. If he’s going to settle down, only one woman comes to mind… his gorgeous, whip-smart neighbor, Sabrina. Their chemistry is off the charts. The banter? So. Hot. But while he’s working overtime to woo her, she’s holding back.
Can two people running at different speeds get to happily-ever-after together?

Another book in Karen Booth’s Never Too Late series. I enjoyed the previous book to this, so jumped at the chance to take part in this tour, It’s a Widow Thing.
I was really interested in this series as every single book is centred around women, forty and over. This is a refreshing premise, usually romance stories are about younger women. The Never Too Late series seems more normal. Love can happen at any age and Karen Booth shows this through the series.
In It’s a Widow Thing Sabrina has been a Widow for two years. Her own make up line is going from strength to strength and her Widow’s group has helped her see her way through life without her husband by her side. Lately she has been considering moving forward, nothing serious but just a little dating, for the company.
Michael Wright is a neighbour of Sabrina’s and they share the elevator every single morning, on the way to work. He also has a tendency to steal her newspaper, complete the crossword and give it her back. Having attempted to be subtle, he decides to make a move on her at a party. He is certain she enjoyed the moment but Sabrina has more going on than he knows, but he definitely wants to find out!
Sabrina and Michael are two characters who are both in totally different places in their lives. Their chemistry was a different matter, every morning in the lift it’s almost palpable, and their flirty banter, well I enjoyed it anyway.
This was a friendship that I was happy to see developing. Michael was a character who I could clearly see changing as the story unfolded. His initial shock of Sabrina being a widow sees him bouncing back and realising she needed to feel safe to move forward.
Karen Booth’s characters are always so human, their flaws apparent and Michael has his fair share of them. I was just glad everything did work out in the end, I shall say no more on that one, read the book if you are curious!
I adored how Karen Booth included the characters from both of the other books in the series. They showed Sabrina there were alternative ways to run a business, and that helped her so much.
A fantastic ending to a series that I will miss. Endearing stories all, with characters that entertain and charm all the way. This final story shows everyone that even though you have been through tragedy, you can still live again and live to the fullest. A touching and captivating read.
