Today I am delighted to be a part of the blog blitz of the A Little Hotel In Cornwall by Laura Briggs. Thanks to Random Things Tours and the author for the copy of the novella to take part.
The first book in the series is A Little Hotel In Cornwall. This is the book I am giving you my thoughts on today. Laura Briggs is an author whose books I have read before. I have to say I loved this novella as much as the others I have read.
Maisie Clark is an aspiring writer and struggling American waitress. She has lost her chance to attend an exclusive writer’s mentorship programme. That was her chance to become a full time writer and give her novel the big break. In her desperation she decides to write to her favourite author, who is a celebrated but very reclusive English novelist. In doing this she really is grasping at straws, just hoping he will help her get a second chance.
His reply, when she receives it, is a no. She decides, on impulse, to travel to the authors last known location. When she arrives at the beautiful hotel in Cornwall, she is mistaken for a new maid. Maisie finds herself in a position that is so good that it can’t be true and the chance to have a summer she old never have imagined.
Such a lovely, feel-good easy read. I felt for Maisie as she traveled all that way to chase her dreams. Her chance of having the summer in Cornwall is the hidden gem she doesn’t know she needs. It was fun to see what Maisie witnessed while working in the hotel too.
Her budding friendship with Sidney does begin to tear her in two, wondering what she really wants. It was so nice to see it happening. I loved the Cornish setting, it was so beautifully described, it just took me back to my holidays in Cornwall.
A gorgeous romance story that envelops you in its charm from start to finish!
