R.Ramey Guerrero – Dust Of A Moth’s Wings @escapist_tours @guerrero_ramey #dustofamothswing #escapistbooktours #SharonBTB

Today I am thrilled to say I am part of the book tour for Dust of a Moth’s Wings by R.Ramey Guerrero. Thanks to Escapist Tours for my invitation to join this tour and the copy of the book to take part today.

The age of Fire begins in six days.

For fifteen hundred years, Slate and the other rebels have trained students to return Fire’s energy to the city of Wen. All have failed. Only one is left, and Nokhum’s past is less than ideal. If he cannot convince the Council of Elders to allow Fire magic to return, chaos will claim the city. The rebels are determined to avoid that end— even if it means sacrificing his student to chaos’s demons to make the Council believe Fire’s energy is necessary.

Magically talented people are disappearing.
Nokhum is convinced that his life-mate is still alive— no matter what everyone else says. Human slavers who salivate for magical beings have taken her. Realizing the Council of Elders will not help him, he seeks forbidden magics to find her. His plans are derailed when Slate sends him out of the city for training. Will his time in the Whisperwood be his undoing?

Dust of a Moth’s Wings is part of The Age of Fire series. Its an epic fantasy that is aimed at older teens up to adults. Definitely a new author for me and a book I was very curious about. There are some trigger warnings that come along with this book. There are issues such as, fantasy drugs (similar to Gandalf’s pipe), violence, racism (different tribes of the same race do not get along),and arachnids. These issues are integral to the plot and part of what makes this a great book to read.

The world building of this book is so rich and layered that I was there straight away with Nokhum, our main character. This is a world with multiple tribes of people who are all magically gifted in different ways. Nokhum is determined to free his people from the ‘Protectors’, the ones who carry out the wishes of the tyrannical rulers, who Nokhum also wants rid of too.

He is a character that seems to be beset with trouble, but I couldn’t help but feel for him as the story unfolded. All he dreams of is his people having the freedom to conjure and use fire and being together with his life mate Kiikacia again. There are a multitude of characters that all have their own unique voice and part to play in this world. I loved how there is even a lightness brought to the story by the younger characters. They brought a smile to my face anyway!

Dust of a Moth’s Wings certainly gave me the shivers when I realised intelligent spiders were a thing! They are used to spin and weave and the weirdest part is the children that work with them on projects too! Nokhum even uses intelligent flying insect things to guide him through the wilderness. Yes, this clever character even communicates with creatures. I do love him.

This book is the work of a creative genius almost. I was so immersed, fantasy books do this to me. If the book has great word building I am there. I lose all sense of time and this is one such book. I could have read the next book immediately I was so much involved.

A truly immersive experience, with a world so richly detailed and layered it has the ability to transport you away from real life. Any fantasy readers will definitely appreciate this book for what it is, brilliant
