Today I really do have the pleasure to host Stewart Giles and his new psychological thriller The Guests. With massive thanks to Jill Burkinshaw and Stewart Giles for the copy of this amazing book.
From bestselling author, Stewart Giles, comes a standalone psychological thriller that will have you turning page after page all the way to the end.
How far would you go to keep a dream alive?
Henry and Rebecca Green worked their whole lives dreaming about a house by the sea. They thought the move to the idyllic town of Frisk would be the perfect retirement. The sea views and clement weather were exactly what they’d been looking forward to their whole lives.
But Mr and Mrs Green soon realise life in paradise isn’t as rosy as they thought. There are others who want what they have. They soon find out that all of the neighbouring houses are HomeFromHome weekend rentals and very soon the ideal retirement takes a turn for the worse when reality hits.
Against her husband’s advice, Rebecca Green hatches a plan to get even. It’s a plan so obscure and so out of the box, Henry doubts his wife’s sanity at first.
And the detectives who are brought in to investigate the series of murders at various HomeFromHome rentals are equally baffled.

Stewart Giles is back! This time with a standalone psychological thriller! I was so excited when I heard this news that I read the book as soon as it landed on my kindle. Stewart Giles is famous (in my circles anyway!) for his DS Jason Smith series. The Guests had me intrigued immediately.
Henry and Rebecca have always dreamed of living by the sea in their retirement. When Rebecca finds Sea View cottage, it is all their dreams come true, and for a bargain price. Well, you know what they say about something being too cheap to be true, well, they are about to find out. Henry has a gut feeling about the cottage that makes him doubt. Rebecca, on the other hand is much more positive so the put the house up for sale and before they know it they are the proud owners of Seaview Cottage.
It doesn’t take long for them to realise they are in the middle of a party zone. They live in an area where the houses are rentals and weekends leave them at their wits end, and then the guests begin to become ill and some end up dead…
This book is not Stewart Giles usual style, but, let me tell you, I hope he writes more standalones too. I was sucked into the lives of Rebebcca and Henry from the start. the authors dark humour was apparent throughout and I was guessing like crazy.
The characters are all so well drawn and I could picture them so vividly. The skill that Stewart Giles has in creating such lifelike people is exceptional. The storyline is pretty unique and I loved it. All I will say is…I need to brush up on my gardening skills I think.
The twists and shocks that unfold along the way really did give me a few jaw dropping moments and kept me reading so fast. This is another brilliant book from the slightly twisted mind of Stewart Giles. If you like your thrillers captivating and on the darker side, pick this book up!
Author Bio

After reading English & Drama at three different English Universities and graduating from none of them, I set off travelling and finally ended up in South Africa, where I still live. I enjoy the serene life running a boat shop on the banks of the Vaal Dam. I came up with the DS Jason Smith idea after my wife dropped a rather large speaker on my head. Whether it was intentional still remains a mystery. Smith, the first in the series was finished in September 2013 and was closely followed by Boomerang and Ladybird. Occam’s Razor, Harlequin and Phobia (a series of short stories detailing Smith’s early life) were all completed in one hazy 365 days and Selene was done and dusted a few months later. Horsemen, the seventh in the DS Smith thriller series is out now. The Beekeeper, a departure from the DS Smith series will be released through Joffe Books on 22 May.
