Charlie Martyn – Stone Ruins And City Smoke @ZooloosBT @darkedgepress @adymartin63 #StoneRuinsAndCitySmoke #ZooLoosBookTours #SharonBTB

Today I’m part of the blog tour for Stone Ruins and City Smoke by Charlie Martyn on behalf of ZooLoo’s Book Tours. Thanks to Zoe and Dark Edge Press for the copy of the book.

Recovering agoraphobic, Tom Maynard, runs a converted Cornish tin mine in Sennen Cove as a rural retreat for the rich and famous. Melanie Taylor runs a successful London hotel, and wants to buy shares in the property he developed in his late wife’s memory, but he refuses her offer.

Sensing a connection between the pair, his daughter, Amy, sets them up on a blind date. But while together in London, during a storm, Amy goes missing. As they battle the elements to save her, they must decide if the distance between them is also worth fighting.

Charlie Martyn is a new author for me, so I had no idea what to expect. All I knew was that the blurb made me very curious. I loved the setting of Sennan Cove, in Cornwall. A county which is one of my favourites.

This is a well written, light hearted story that kept a smile on my face throughout. Charlie Martyn’s characters are created well, so well that, it felt like I was with them and part of the story. They are people that I felt like I could really be friends with, as I found I was bothered about what happened to them.

A book that has a bit of everything, humour, love, hope and danger too.. It was an effortless read and I finished it the same day I started it! I loved the detailed and vivid descriptions of Cornwall too. I wish I lived closer to it, Charlie Martyn’s writing has made me miss Cornwall.

Tom is a hotelier in Cornwall while Mel runs a hotel in London. Mel wants to buy a share of Tom’s exclusive hotel, he refuses. Tom’s daughter can see the sparks between them and sets them up on a blind date in London. While on their date Amy herself goes missing.

As the story unfold, the tension builds and just when I thought I couldn’t enjoy the book anymore, the dramatic turn of the story made me need to know how everything would turn out.

Stone Ruins And City Smoke is a satisfying and thoroughly entertaining book that ticked all my boxes for a RomCom. I will be checking out Charlie Martyn’s future books, for sure.

Author Bio

Adrian lives in Cornwall with his wife and four children. He has a Bachelor’s degree in English with Creative Writing and a Master’s degree in Professional writing, both received from Falmouth University. Adrian grew up in Cornwall, only spending seven years away while serving in the British army. The inspiration for his writing is drawn from the landscape of the magical county – from the desolate moors to the rugged coastline.

Charlie Martyn

Adrian didn’t discover the real joy of reading until his late teenage years, devouring such authors as Andy McNab and Dean Koontz. Writing came later while on active service overseas, starting with bad poetry before turning his hand to the novel. Originally published in horror, Adrian accidentally discovered his enjoyment of writing romantic fiction while at university, and subsequently enrolled on the Romantic Novelists Association’s New Writer’s Scheme – an affiliation he would recommend to any new writer.
