I’m excited to say that We’ll Always Have Venice is on the blog today, by Leonie Mack. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for the copy of the book.

Who can resist the romance of Venice…

When Norah arrives in Venice for a ten-week internship she is surprised to discover that her guide for her work trips around the lagoon is the undeniably gorgeous and kind Gianluca. She can’t help thinking he might be too good to be true, with his endless fascinating local stories, and his infectious laugh.

Norah is still bitter after an accident left her with a serious injury and also meant the end of her long-term relationship. And besides, she’s serious about her career and that means leaving Venice at the end of the summer.

Gianluca has had a summer fling before that led to heartache for him and he won’t do it again. He enjoys the long hours out on the lagoon with Norah, but after a storm strands them on a picture-perfect island for a night, they agree they should just be good friends for the summer.

But life doesn’t always go to plan, and when it’s time for Norah to go, they have to decide whether what they have between them is really just a friendship, and not something more…

This is one book that I devoured! An escapist romance novel that hooked me immediately. Leonie Mack is a new author for me and I really didn’t know what I was missing, until I read We’ll Always Have Venice.

I enjoyed getting to know Norah, a woman who is still affected by a serious accident that has not only physically hurt her, but also affected her self worth too. Gianluca had had a bad experience with love and he just doesn’t want to be hurt again. The chemistry between these two is there straight away, it’s totally undeniable and I loved it.

Norah is so determined to complete her 10 week work placement, studying algae in Venice. Her guide just happens to be Gianluca who happens to be everything she needs. The only thing is Norah is leaving after her 10 weeks, gone with no looking back. They make a friendship pact which maybe doesn’t go as they plan.

Leonie Mack’s storytelling swept me straight to Venice with Norah and Gianluca, I revelled in the gorgeously detailed and vivid setting, and sat waiting for things to spin out as they usually do in a novel such as this. I haven’t read the book before this and it didn’t spoil my enjoyment at all. Saying that I am putting the other book in my amazon basket!

A romantic comedy that weaves brilliant characters together with stunning settings and a woman who is going places, nothing will stop her. Leonie Mack is an author who writes so well that I can’t wait to read more from her.
