The second book in the Rise of the Ivarsonns series. Escaping With Her Saxon Enemy is a historical romance that will sweep you away from the start. This story follows Svea, a Viking shieldmaiden and Ash, the Saxon Kings’ guard. The king is kidnapped and they are the only people left. We see Ash wanting to go to rescue the king and the warriors that have been taken too. Svea, a warrior, is determined to go too. As they go on their journey to rescue them all, the feelings they have for each other become stronger. Will these enemies be able to rescue their friends and the king? Can they settle their differences, put everything behind them and find a joint future?
A historical romance that is another well written and emotional book to add to Sara Rodi’s series. This one begins just after the first book ends. Svea and Ash are great characters, both are well rounded and multi layered. We see that they have had conflicts in their past with each other, but the importance of their mission makes them work together. As the story unfolds we see them begin to grow closer, Ash really underestimates Svea’s capabilities and this makes her so frustrated. Oh the sparks between these two are marvellous on this journey.
A plot that is not just sweet, but full of suspense and action too. There are battles that are compelling to read and violent, but that was the time. I found it quite an intense story with everything to create an intriguing read. The fact the king is being held and people’s lives are in their hands, really ups the ante! I really got caught up with everything in this book, I was so invested in Svea and Ash, hoping so much they could save everyone AND have a future together.
Another historical romance that swept me straight back to the times of the Saxons and Vikings. I loved it. I can definitely recommend this to any historical romance readers.
