Blood Sentence is the first book in a new series featuring D.I Jonah Pennance,who is part of the Met police specialist Sapphire unit. Keith Nixon is an author who has always written books that I enjoy reading. Blood Sentence is a fast paced and very well written book. His characters are so real and add depth to this story.
Pennance is called in to investigate a man found hanged with pictures of children beneath the body. A death that is first thought to be suicide is actually murder and we see Pennance realising he knows the dead man from his younger years. As further incidents seem to link back to Pennance too we see him trying to prove his innocence with D.S Simone Smithsons help. Will he be able to succeed on doing so?
This is a fantastic starting point for a series. I am dying to know what’s next for Pennance and interested to see what develops as the series unfolds.
Keith Nixon always has the knack of bringing a storyline that keeps the reader turning the pages. He brings twists that you don’t forsee and reveals that manages to surprise you. Even with all that he still keeps the characters right in the forefront of the story for you to get invested in. This is a series that I am looking forward to the next book being published already.
