Michael J Malone – Quicksand of Memory @OrendaBooks @RandomTTours @michaelJmalone1 #QuicksandofMemory #OrendaBooks #randomthingstours #psychologicalthriller #bookblogger #bookreview

I am so thrilled to be hosting my stop for Quicksand Of Memory by Micheal J Malone on behalf of Orenda Books. Thanks to Anne Cater and Orenda Books for the gifted book to take part today.

Jenna is trying to rebuild her life after a series of disastrous relationships.

Luke is struggling to provide a safe, loving home for his deceased partner’s young son, following a devastating tragedy.

When Jenna and Luke meet and fall in love, they are certain they can achieve the stability and happiness they both desperately need.

And yet, someone is watching.

Someone who has been scarred by past events.

Someone who will stop at nothing to get revenge…

Dark, unsettling and immensely moving, Quicksand of Memory is a chilling reminder that we are not only punished for our sins, but by them, and that memories left to blacken and sharpen over time are the perfect breeding ground for obsession, and murder…

Here I am again, another amazing Orenda published book by an equally amazing author. I am so sure that I will never do Michael J Malone’s The Quicksand of Memory justice. He is an author who writes the most riveting books. I always love a new Orenda release, I haven’t yet found a book I do not like…and I have been part of their Blogger Team for quite a while now.

Michael J Malone always brings characters that are real, the humanity within them is clear to see. No one is perfect and neither are Luke and Jenna our main characters in Quicksand of Memory. They have flaws and are multi layered people. I found it so interesting to learn of their pasts and see how they acted, this gives us insight into their behaviour patterns in the present day. Their predictability, or not, as the plot develops, creates such an engaging and addictive experience.

This is a story of love, loss, friendship, revenge and hatred. A dark and raw story which is chilling in parts as well. This author always writes a story that overtakes my life and I am immersed from beginning to end.

Luke and Jen fall in love and are feeling they may have found ‘the one’. They see a happy ever after on the horizon. At the same time there is someone in the shadows and just out of sight of the loved up couple. Someone who is out for revenge, scarred by their past and oozing with hatred.

The person in the shadows even has chapters from their point of view which gave me an even larger feeling of impending doom and dread. The tension was palpable throughout. I even got to a point where there was sympathy for their past and childhood. I am a person who tries to see or hope there is a little good in everybody. I hoped they would come to their senses at a certain point.

This is an expertly woven tale. Told with such depth that I was certainly feeling every characters emotions. It is an intense, raw, complex and fascinating story that shows just how skilled Michael J Malone is as an author, that’s very skilled by the way.
