I am so happy to say Ia part of the book tour for Miranda Smith and her new book, The Killer’s Family. I must apologise as I am late posting but it is up now. Thanks so much to Bookouture for my gifted copy of the book to take part.
We should never have kept our father’s secret.
Before, my sisters and I were close. Now, a year after our father’s funeral, we barely speak to each other. Molly won’t accept the truth. Rachel can’t forgive him. And I spend all my time digging through his life, trying to understand.
Then we hear the news. A woman has been found by the docks, her wedding ring stolen. The reporter says it appears the local serial killer has returned…
But I know that can’t be right, because I know who the killer was.
Henry Martin. Our father.
Someone is sending us a message. Someone knows we lied.
Now my sisters and I must work together to find out who is targeting us. How do they know what we’ve hidden? What do they want? And what other secrets lie buried in the past, putting us all in danger?
A brilliantly twisty suspense thriller that will have you flying through the pages and gasping at the twist. Fans of Lisa Jewell, Gillian Flynn and Ruth Ware will love The Killer’s Family.

A new book from Miranda Smith is always great news, for me anyway. The Killer’s Family is a psychological thriller that I hoped would be as good as her previous books. I really don’t know why I even doubt this author! This is another twisted and addictive read that Miranda Smith is so very well known for.
We are introduced to three sisters who have lost both their parents with six months. They are at the funeral for their dad, and we see them sorting his personal possessions afterwards where they find several items that are beyond horrifying for them all. There are several pieces of jewellery, pictures but the thing that horrified them the most is a personal, signed confession… that he was the infamous Gemini serial killer.
They decide together to keep this harrowing confession to themselves. This results in catastrophic results that unfold as time moves on.
The story is told from the three sisters perspectives, so we get to know each sister and how the pressure of what is happening affects them and their individual lives. I love this way of telling the story as you get to know the characters better and it becomes an immersive experience. So immersive that I didn’t want to stop reading at any point, not great when you are a mum and carer!
I loved the fact that this book is from the point of view of the actual killers family. It was refreshing to read and this also makes the story unique to the usual killer or victims perspectives.
Miranda Smith has made the three sisters so individual that it wasn’t an issue keeping up with each of them. I enjoyed getting to know each one and finding that I felt everything they were going through too.
Such a twisty and intense psychological thriller that was every changing, making it hard to see where it would end up. This is a taut and clever example of great storytelling with shock after shock right to the end, and I do mean ‘the end’!
Great characterisations, brilliant twists and an addictive read! What more do you need?
