Isabella May – The Custard Tart Cafe by the Sea @rararesources @IsabellaMayBks #TheCustardTartCafeByTheSea #rararesources #bookreview #BookBlogger

Thanks again to Rachel Gibey of Rachel’s Random Resources and Isabella May for allowing me to be part of The Custard Tart Cafe By The Sea book tour. Thanks for my gifted copy of the book in order to take part today.

Willow has opened a custard tart cafe at the end of a popular English seaside pier. Her unique and magical spin on the Portuguese pastel de nata has customers queuing outside the door to taste them.

Tiago’s grandparents are purveyors of The Real Deal: authentic custard tarts made in the Algarve region of Portugal, where his family have been lovingly baking them for centuries. When he moves to England for a new job and chances upon Willow’s wondrous wares, he is out for war. At least that’s his intention. But when serendipity brings Willow and Tiago back together at the departures desk in Bristol airport – destination Faro – outrage isn’t the only spark that flies…

Weston-super-Mare and Portugal are about to collide!

The Custard Tart Cafe by the Sea is part of Isabella May’s Foodie Romance Journeys series. I have read some of the books from it and have loved each one. The cover to this is yet another gorgeous Isabella May creation. The synopsis provides the hook to want to read it as soon as I could.

Isabella May always brings a laugh out loud story that’s full of romance and delectable food. She always creates memorable characters and her descriptions of the settings transport the reader to whichever place that she has chosen for the book in hand. This one is set in Weston-super-Mare and Portugal. Weston-super-Mare I have visited several times and Portugal never, so I loved visiting…if only through a book.

Willow was fabulous, fun quirky and likeable as every character Isabella brings is. Her determination to own her own cafe and cook the custard tarts (or Pastel De Nata the Portuguese tart) that she makes her own, made me want to know her.

Tiago’s grandparents make the authentic custard tarts in the Algarve region of Portugal. He has moved to England and discovers Willows personal take on the Pastel De nata’s of his birthplace, he is furious! He is on the warpath and has no intention of being friendly with Willow. Fate Intervenes and they end up meeting up at a departure desk, both travelling to Faro and something more than anger flies between them.

This is another Isabella May beautifully layered story. One that crosses countries and cultures to bring a tale of second chances and forgiveness. An uplifting and heartwarming story that brightened up my dreary day here. Another Isabella May book I would recommend if you want to escape and have fun while doing it.

Author Bio

Isabella May

Isabella May lives in (mostly) sunny Andalusia, Spain with her husband, daughter and son, creatively inspired by the mountains and the sea. She grew up in Somerset on Glastonbury’s ley lines and loves to feature her quirky English hometown in her stories.

After a degree in Modern Languages and European Studies at UWE, Bristol (and a year working abroad in Bordeaux and Stuttgart), Isabella bagged an extremely jammy and fascinating job in children’s publishing… selling foreign rights for novelty, board, pop-up and non-fiction books all over the world; in every language from Icelandic to Korean, Bahasa Indonesian to Papiamento!

All of which has fuelled her curiosity and love of international food and travel – both feature extensively in her romcoms.
Isabella is also a Pranic Healer and a stillbirth mum.
