The white-washed Italian villa is perfect. I thought it might feel odd, living in a stranger’s house for the summer, but as my husband and children swim in the infinity pool, I start to relax. And then, in the back of a wardrobe, I find a photograph that shatters everything…

A new Shalini Boland book means I need to read it immediately. I find Shalini’s books excellent. She can weave a psychological thriller so expertly. I never expected any less with The Family Holiday, and I was right. I read this in one day, it’s an addictive and engrossing read.
Shalini Boland always creates characters that are perfect for her storyline. They are really well developed, interesting and relatable no matter which book you pick up.
The Family Holiday has a unique storyline which flows perfectly. It is told by Beth and Amber in alternating chapters as the two families do a home swap for their holidays. What follows is a brilliant thriller that is packed with secrets, twists and turns along with the drama, intrigue and also suspense throughout.
The descriptions of the setting are so good that I wish I could go myself! Shalini Boland always gives the reader a fantastic sense of place, wherever they are set and it was the same with this book too. This story had me holding my breath at certain times and as I thought the final twist was done there was another!
Another top notch story from the pen of one of my favourite Psychological thriller authors. I totally recommend this book to anyone who loves quality writing and appreciates great twists.
