It’s my pleasure to be a part of the blog tour for Death in the Mist by Jo Allen today for Rachel’s Random Resources. Thanks to Rachel and Jo Allen for my copy of the book to take part.
A drowned man. A missing teenager. A deadly secret.
When Emmy Leach discovers the body of a drug addict, wrapped in a tent and submerged in the icy waters of a Cumbrian tarn, she causes more than one problem for investigating officer DCI Jude Satterthwaite. Not only does the discovery revive his first, unsolved, case, but the case reveals Emmy’s complicated past and opens old wounds on the personal front, regarding Jude’s relationship with his colleague and former partner, Ashleigh O’Halloran.
As Jude and his team unpick an old story, it becomes increasingly clear that Emmy is in danger. What secrets are she and her controlling, coercive husband hiding, from the police and from each other? What connection does the dead man have with a recently-busted network of drug dealers? And, as the net closes in on the killer, can Jude and Ashleigh solve a murder — and prevent another?
A traditional British detective novel set in Cumbria.

This is the Seventh book in The DCI Satterthwaite Mysteries, of which I have read a number of the series. This is a great detective series set in Cumbria that has plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep the reader turning the pages…and looking forward to the next book!
Even if this is the first time you have picked up a book from this series you will have no problem reading the book. Jo Allen very expertly gives the reader all they need to read and enjoy the book without feeling that they have missed things.
This is yet another gripping case for DCI Jude Satterwaite to hopefully solve. He is a character I have enjoyed watching develop as I have read the books. This case is one that isn’t just a present day case for him but one that dredges up past events for him too. Will he be able to keep himself together enough to solve the mystery before another body turns up?
I have always thoroughly loved this series and look forward to Jo Allen’s Blog Tours for her books. Her characters are so well drawn and relatable. Her storytelling is always a pleasure to be drawn into. The atmospheric and tense story made the pages almost turn themselves.
Jo Allen has a way of writing that brings Cumbria to life so vividly that I can picture the places she describes in my mind. I love the Lakes and feel like I revisit everytime I read a new DCI Satterthwaite instalment. These books just get better as the series goes on. I wonder what Jo Allen has planned for the next one?!
