Kate Frost – One Greek Summer

Today, I am thrilled to say it’s my turn to post my review for One Greek Summer by Kate Frost for Rachel’s Random Resources blog tour. Thanks to both Rachel Gilbey and Boldwood Books for the copy of the book to take part today. Any thoughts are my own and unbiased in any way.

Taking a chance on love is just the beginning…

When Harlow Sands arrives on an idyllic Greek island to work on a big budget movie, it should be the opportunity of a lifetime. But her uncertainty over the direction of her life and the high expectations of Maeve Fennimore-Bell, her domineering Hollywood producer mum, threatens to ruin her summer on beautiful Skopelos

Location manager Tyler Reed has his fair share of demons. His and Harlow’s lives have been entwined for over a decade and now forced to work together, their complicated past begins to unravel.

Harlow is desperate to break free and make her own way in the world, but with a fractured family, a long-hidden secret and a need to belong, can her happy-ever-after be found during one Greek summer?

Escape to the beautiful Greek isles with bestseller Kate Frost for the perfect uplifting, feel-good romantic read.

I love being taken to beautiful places when I read. ‘One Greek Summer’ is a book that took me to Greece, the island of Skopelos to be precise. Who doesn’t enjoy a book set in a gorgeous place? Especially when you find out its the same place used for Mamma Mia! I adore Greece totally, so I was really so happy to be whisked away.

Harlow is working there as part of the location team for a major movie that is being made there. Her story is one that deals with various serious and really relevant issues. Kate Frost deals with these sensitively and well.

Harlow has a relationship with her mother that she is attempting to improve while they are both in the same place. She is also searching for the answer to what will make her truly happy in life. Then there is Adonis, a local who reluctantly paired with Harlow for filming needs. It doesn’t take overly long for things to begin to change. The problem is Harlow still can’t shake off Tyler, a man with whom she has history , and he thinks they can still just pick up where they left off.

The way things unfold aren’t predictable, and they made for a great ending. I loved being in Skopelos and reading about the role of a location assistant in the movie industry.

Kate Frost’s vivid descriptions of the island, the food, the life the people who live there have. All combined gave me a perfect escape from the gloomy British weather. I felt a part of this story all the way through, and I truly enjoyed it.
