Tony Millington – Keep Your Friends Close|@RandomTTours| @darkedgepress| @TonyMillington9

I’m happy to say I am on the blog tour for Tony Millingtons second book in the Monteith and Watson series. Thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours and Dark Edge Press for my copy of the book. First is the synopsis.

A young woman’s body is found on the Russell brother’s patch.

Jimmy and Allan have been running West Ravenswood for too long, it’s time to bring their empire down.

While Monteith gets to work on doing just that, Detective Watson begins searching for a young woman, snatched from the street while out running.

Are the abduction and murder linked?

Will the Russell brothers evade justice – again?

As I have said, this is the second one book for Monteith and Watson. The first book is a fabulous read, so I did wonder if this book would be as good. I shouldn’t have ever questioned Tony Millingtons skill as a writer.  This story really hits the ground running and doesn’t slow the action, suspense, or danger at all.

There are two story threads for the reader to follow. The first is a top policeman being abducted and going into the territory of coersion and gang members.  The second is a lone runner who has disappeared. I thoroughly enjoyed the storylines in this book.

Tony Millingtons character development is as good in this book. We learn more about the officers and their back stories. I still so enjoy the one-liners that are used to make this book a little humorous as well. Maybe a bit of black humour, but I still found it funny.

This is a second book, but because of the way Tony Millington skilfully weaves information about the previous book into the story, it means you are able to read this on its own. I again must say It is so worth reading Family First before this. The characters are so much more real just by knowing them from the first one.

Just because I had read Family First, it doesn’t mean this book was predictable in any way. Tony Millington seems to have the knack of creating a story that still brings the element of surprise. It also had me intrigued as to how everything would be brought together. This alone had me glued to this book, never mind the rest of the story.

Yes, for me, another excellent book that kept me gripped and intrigued too, from the first last page. I now wonder what little gems we will find in the next book and can’t wait to find out!

Author Bio

Tony Millington

I was born in Warrington Cheshire in 1967 but moved to Rutland in 1981 with my parents. Attending Uppingham Community College, Rutland sixth form, and later attending Stamford College. I have done various jobs, including a lifeguard, white van man, and temp work but working at RAF Wyton as a civil servant for the MOD for many years was my most loved career sadly ending in redundancy due to all the cuts to the civil service. I live in Peterborough, married with one son. My writing started when I heard the archetypal saying, “Everyone has a book in them.” Ideas have been floating around in my brain for a long time, so I thought it was about time to put them down on paper.
