Today, it’s my post for Della Galton and Confetti Over Bluebell Cliff. Thank you to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for my gifted copy of the book. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

Art dealer Ruby Lambert is on a mission to lose her baby weight ahead of her sister’s Olivia’s wedding in 6 months’ time. To add fuel the fire, Ruby has also been ‘honoured’ with the unenviable task of being Head Bridesmaid. So determined not to let Olivia down, she signs up to a swanky new diet & fitness club, The Bluebell Booty Busters.
Uncertain of what to expect Ruby meets Harry Small, a wealthy local businessman who ‘joins’ Booty Busters, after pressure from his wife, who’s worried about his health and growing waistline.
Ruby and Harry soon team up as diet buddies, supporting each other through their dieting crisis’s. But something seems amiss at Booty Busters when they both discover that if it looks too good to be true; it probably is….
Will Ruby and Harry ever reach their targets?
And will Ruby do her sister proud and be the Belle of the Ball?

I have read Della Galton’s books previously and have found them to be such great stories. Her characters are so relatable, and this book is no exception. The cover and synopsis definitely drew me in to want to read the book.
We meet Ruby, a young single mum, whom I immediately took to my heart. She is just like so many women out in the world. She has had a baby and can’t get rid of the extra weight. All is well, but she is being her sisters bridesmaid, and she is determined to look good in her dress. Harry is a man who is low on self-confidence and married. Both Harry and Ruby join an exclusive slimming and fitness club. Harry is only there for his wife. She deems it necessary for him. I felt for Harry; his wife was a bit on the controlling side for me. We see sparks fly with Ruby and Harry, and as the story unfolded, I hope both these characters got what I felt they deserved in life…no spoilers here!
I was so wrapped up in this story that these two character’s lives mattered to me. I was as interested in how it all turned out as I would be with a friend. This is due to Della Galton’s skilful writing. She just has a knack for creating such realistic and down-to-earth characters. This book was over for me way too soon. I felt like I had a book hangover when I had finished.
Such a delightful book and one that has made me all the more interested in this author’s books. I found out that Confetti over Bluebell Cliff is part of a series, so I am quite happy to say I have to catch up now.

This is a story that doesn’t focus on romance but brings issues to the fore, such as low confidence and body image issues, along with the struggles people have in losing weight. I understand these so much and again can relate. I was with everyone all the aay through this book and loved how the author intertwined everything to create such a light and optimistic book while handling issues that are so important these days.
