Whenever a new Rosie Hendry book is released, I am so happy that I am invited to the book tour. Thank you again to Rachel’s Random Resources and Boldwood Books for my copy of The Mother’s Day Victory and my place on this tour.
Can the Women on the Home Front protect their community in times of war?
Norfolk, 1940. As war rages on, sisters Prue and Thea, along with the wider community of Great Plumstead, are doing all they can to help the war effort, from running the mobile canteen for the Women’s Voluntary Service to organising clothing drives and collecting salvage.
When Anna, a young German girl who fled her country, seeks refuge in the village, Thea opens up her home, Rookery House, and invites Anna into their growing family. But while many in the village welcome Anna with open arms, others are suspicious of the new arrival . . .
As the war intensifies and panic sweeps the country, Anna is taken by the government who fear she’s a spy. The women of Great Plumstead are already fighting their own battles on the Home Front, but will they come together in Anna’s time of need to keep the newest member of their community safe from war?
The Mother’s Day Victory is the perfect wartime family saga and the second novel in Rosie Hendry’s much-loved series, filled with heart-warming friendships, nostalgic community spirit and a courageous make-do-and-mend attitude.
Perfect for fans of Nadine Dorries, Donna Douglas and Elaine Everest.

Book two in a series and one that could be read without having to go back to read book one. I would, but you don’t have to. This is a heartwarming story that is told from a different perspective. We meet the women who stayed at home and joined the WVS. The women who kept morale up on the home front and supported the war effort.
Rosie Hendry has written a heartbreaking story of Anna, a German Jew who has fled Germany and had to leave her father too. She faces prejudice everywhere she goes, just because of her nationality. Nobody really understands the treatment she receives due to being Jewish. She comes to Rookery House and feels like she has almost come home. Will she now have a settled life? Will she be really happy?

A beautiful eye-catching cover with a synopsis that screams read me really grabbed me straight away. A family saga that takes you right to the 1940s. There are characters you take straight to your heart and a community you wish was still around these days. This book makes you feel like you are part of the story straight away. These characters are like mates when you get to the end of the book.
I love Rosie Hendry’s writing style. You actually feel everything these women are experiencing; I just loved it! I read this in one sitting. I enjoyed it so much.
