Virginia Heath – The Earl’s Inconvenient Houseguest

Today, I am on the publication push for The Earl’s Inconvenient Houseguest by Virginia Heath. Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources and Mills &Boon Historical for the copy of the book to take part in the tour.

The earl she loved to hate…until she stayed in his mansion!

Sophie Gilbert has thwarted the standoffish new earl’s plans to sell his country estate and the quaint village which forms part of it. But when disaster strikes and he offers her refuge, she must reconsider everything about this vexing, determined man. After the heartbreak in her past, it’s a revelation to feel her pulse racing and her body yearning for his touch

The first book in the A Very Village Scandal series this is a historical romance series of stories that tells stories of Scandal in a small village.

This story introduces us to Rafe and Sophie. Rafe is the new Earl whose plan to sell land does not meet with the agreement of Sophie. She decides to go all out and arrange a protest with a number of the residents of her village.

The hatred Rafe and Sophie have for each other is pretty clear! As disaster strikes for Sophie and Rafe himself comes to her aid. Will these two be able to get beyond their differences, or are they fated to hate each other for life?

Sophie is such a fiesty woman who has convictions and isn’t afraid to take a stand. Rafe is a man with hidden depths, well hidden from Sophie anyway! His love for his younger brother, Archie, is beautiful to see. As the story unfolds, we see Sophie and Rafe’s relationship begin to slowly change as the walls they both had around their hearts start to crumble slowly.

Archie, Rafe’s younger brother, is a man within a boys body. A fully fleshed out character with his own unique personality, which I loved. He definitely spoke his mind throughout anyway and did his best to manipulate Rafe and Sophies situation.

A romance that is much more than that. The fight between Rafe and Sophie is hilarious; the protest Sophie sets up was a vivid image in my head. I had placards and everything going on in my mind; it definitely made me chuckle. The romance captivated me, the drama, fun, and passion with these two kept me reading until I got to the end and had to leave this charming story.

Virginia Heath

When Virginia Heath was a little girl it took her ages to fall asleep, so she made up stories in her head to help pass the time while she was staring at the ceiling. As she got older, the stories became more complicated, sometimes taking weeks to get to the happy ending. Then one day, she decided to embrace the insomnia and start writing them down. Twenty-two books and two Romantic Novel of the Year Award nominations later, and it still takes her forever to fall asleep.
