One forgotten discovery will change three women’s lives for ever…
Robin hasn’t been home for decades. After running away to London, she never expected to see her cantankerous mother, Faye, again. But when Faye has a fall, the two women are thrown together once more.
The years apart have not made their hearts grow fonder and the ground between them is unsteady. Then Robin finds an unopened scroll – the last of the treasure hunts her much-missed father used to take them on every Sunday. A hunt he believed might change everything.
Yet, not even this gift from her beloved father can smooth the way until Robin’s daughter, Amber, arrives to meet her grandmother for the first time. Amber is determined that the decades-old mystery be solved.
Can a 30-year-old treasure hunt really ‘change everything’?

Three generations of one fractured family, living under one roof together, does make for an addictive and interesting story. Can the Faye, Robin, and Amber get to know each other afresh and maybe learn to love each other?
Robin is the main character; running away at sixteen means she has hardly had contact, of any form with Faye, her mum. After Faye has a fall, Robin agrees to come back and look after her. Faye herself isn’t keen to welcome Robin back but knows she needs the help. She agrees to let Robin stay until she is well enough to become self-sufficient again.
Amber is Robins daughter, the child of a broken marriage who took her dad’s side in the break up. She is having a rough time in Uni, so she takes the suggestion to move in with her mother and grandmother to move in with them so she can decide which way to go in life
Three women, one roof and years of resentment and doubt. Can anything help these three to see each other with fresh eyes? Maybe the treasure hunt that Robins beloved father left them, with the promise if may change everything, will help
Well, I was so intrigued at how the treasure hunt would solve their issues. The issues between them all at times gave me the feeling I needed to shake one or the other of them to hopefully knock some sense into them.
Samantha Tonge has created a family that each and every one of us can relate to in some way or another. I felt for Robin as I learned more about her relatio ship with Faye. I myself do have issues with my own mum, so this rang so true for me.
I loved the 1980s references, too. I was a teenager then, so as the story flipped to Robin in the 80s, it brought a lot of my memories to the fore, too.

The ending is just right. It finishes the story perfectly, even though I wished I had read it slower so I could have spent more time with Robin and her family. Samantha Tonge has written a thought-provoking insightful book. Emotional, nostalgic, and charming with some laughs throughout, what more can you ask for?
