A romance novel that brings us an atmospheric and enticing story with two main characters who are both so well drawn that I was rooting for them so much. I don’t read overly much historical romance, but when I do, I revel in the rich landscapes of the authors writing. I have always loved history and Scottish history I don’t know much about. Books such as this really fuel my imagination.
Ross and Ilysa are both intriguing characters. Their stories, both together and from before, had me drawn in to the book so much. The fact that Ross sees that Ilysa is a strong leader and loves her kindness, wit, and generosity. He himself shows his gentle side, too, which was a great contrast to the warrior he is. I found that so sweet and really hoped they could overcome everything and follow their hearts, not their heads. I, for one, was cheering them on.
An excellent romance novel that sweeps you back in time to the 1360s. The author has written an enticing story that will sweep you off your feet in no time. The first book in the Highland Alliance series, I hope to be invited to the tour for the next books release!
