J.L Butler – Unfaithful

Unfaithful is a thriller that drew me straight in with the synopsis. I could not wait to begin this book; I just really hoped that the pages would fulfil the promise the synopsis.

J.L Butler

A FATAL attraction…

Rachel Reeves has it all. The perfect family, a rich husband, and a gorgeous home. But when her only child flies the nest, Rachel feels lost – and succumbs to a mind-blowing one-night stand.

With a DEADLY twist…

Instantly regretting her infidelity, Rachel cuts ties with Chris. But he won’t let her go that easily. She erases him from her life – until a text changes everything.

And an UNFORGETTABLE end…

Someone knows what she did.
And they’re ready to destroy her entire life because of it.

The promise was fulfilled. I loved this thriller.  Rachel has it all: rich husband, nice life, beautiful home, and a daughter who has just left to go to university. This causes her to have empty nest syndrome.

Her husband isn’t there to support her emotionally, so she feels neglected at home. Workwise, she has just gone back into the publishing world after twenty years. On a night out, she bumps into an old flame. One thing leads to another, and she ends up with something to regret more than she ever expected.

A thriller that is excellently written, with a plot that you won’t see coming and characters that are all flawed in their own unique ways. I say that, but the flaws didn’t make them bad enough to hate. Rachel hasn’t made the brightest decisions, but I still felt for her. She ends up living a nightmare, and it’s from one mistake.

I was questioning every character in this story, as they all made me suspicious as the story unfolded. I spent a lot of time guessing and then guessing again and again, well, you know how it goes. J.L Butler dripped information like little bread trails throughout the story. There are plenty of twists and turns that keep you invested in the book and the characters.

It begins quite slowly to give the reader time to get to know Rachel, the family, and how she ended up making the mistake of her life. Then, it ramps the speed, suspense, intrigue, and tension and really becomes an addictive read. I have read a new of books lately that I have been struggling to out down, but Unfaithful tops the lot.

A thriller with plenty of twists, red herrings, and an ending that will blow you away. It may start slowly but take my word it doesn’t end in the same pace. A recommended read from me.

Thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours and Harper Collins for my gifted copy of the book.
