This is a story that I really found myself curious about. The synopsis caught me in its trap immediately, and I have always secretly had a love for fantasy, too. So I accepted my invite and after my book arrived got stuck in.

Juno’s beloved Petra is dead.
Petra’s replacement, the mysterious Lady, has put Juno’s best friend Tilly under a dark spell that has left Juno with nobody she can trust.
With only Chax, her kitten, for company, Junoes escapes from her school to a town at the bottom of the cliffs.
A town ruled by men.
Alone, scared, and without friends, Juno feels an unknown power growing inside her. A power she knows she will one day have to harness. With all lost, a dark figure from within the shadows cups her mouth and whispers in her ear to keep quiet
Juno joins her new friends but just as she starts to learn how the world really works, the ill-tempered Dr Viktor demands an audience.
Juno and the Lady is a young woman’s journey into a land of the old ways, where men rule, and women are property.
With unlikely friendships, forbidden love and burning magic, can Juno change the conventions of old? Can she save the town? And will she figure out who the Lady truly is?
The first book in a series, G.J Kemp, has written a captivating book that flows so easily. With an engaging story that is very interesting and quite unique, the characters are great. With the main character being such a strong and independent girl, Juno makes for an interesting study. Chax , her pet cat isn’t a normal cat, as we understand a normal cat. You can discover all that; just read this book.

G.J Kemp’s Juno and The Lady is a story that envelops you and makes it feel like you are part of the story. It’s fantastically told with really likeable characters. The world building is very strong. I felt like I was there, with Juno having to run the town ruled by men. It was interesting to see how they reacted when they had to live without the women and were even ruled by one.
The character development is apparent throughout as we see Juno discovering her new power and finding the sewer rats, all great characters with Chloe being a favourite of mine. I really loved this book and could see my teenage son enjoying it too at some point.

I found it to be a brilliant fantasy book that would appeal to young adults and adults alike. With great characters, a unusual plot with a good pace it ticked all the boxes for me. I recommend it to any fantasy book lover.
Thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours and Silverwood Books for the gifted copy of the book.
