The first book in a trilogy, Resistance is a family saga as well as historical fiction. This is a book that incorporates a period in history that is so rich in details that I learn something new constantly, and Resistance is a book that managed to teach me even more.

Bravery, courage, fear, treachery and love in a time of war.A chance meeting draws Sabine Faure into the shadowy world of the French Resistance where she meets the charismatic Hérisson and his intriguing comrade Loup.
Set in Dordogne in South-west France during World War II, the friends’ relationships and strengths are tested to the very limits as life changes in unbelievably horrific ways, The friends find themselves facing frightening situations and responding in ways they never thought possible as bravery and resistance take different forms in each of their actions.
Vivid and exquisite in its illumination of a time and place that was filled with atrocities but also humanity and extraordinary bravery, Eilidh McGinness’s novel will evoke reader’s to ask -What would I have done?
A novel that is set in France in the early days of World War Two and focuses on members of the Resistance. Sabine is from a farming family and gets involved with the resistance as she travels around occupied France’s country, selling cheese. This makes it easy for her to secretly deliver messages from the Resistance. Then we meet Hérisson, a young man who joins the Resistance with some friends as a fighter.
the author has so skillfully interwoven fact and fiction, so you really can’t tell where the facts finish and the fiction begins. The brutality is really chilling in the telling of this very well researched story. We see Sabine being forced to make some hard choices about her family, fiancé and her friends.
Eilidh Mcginness has depicted the wartime era under occupation so well, with the ultimate bravery shown by a large number of people who made the biggest sacrifices for the greater good. She has brought, Romance, danger and excitement with this story.
A meticulously researched book that transported me to the dangerous times of the Second World War, which had me stepping back in my mind to the scary days of that time.

Resistance is a story that has danger, romance, and even adventure, which really made me sit up and take note throughout. Seeing the issues these Resistance fighters went through makes me so proud that there were still people who were strong and determined enough to make a difference.
Big thanks to Anne Cater of Random Things Tours and Eilidh McGinness for my gifted paperback book and my place on the tour.
