This is the fourth book in Melissa Olivers Notorious Knights series of Historical Romance from Mills &Boon. I have been reintroduced to Mills & Boon over the last six months or so and I must say I find myself enjoying them so much!

The only man who’s tempted her…Now poses as her husband!
When an injured knight arrives on Brida O’Conaill’s doorstep, the village assumes he’s her long-lost husband. But her only previous connection to Sir Thomas Lovent was an intense shared moment at a tournament years ago. Brida maintains the pretence while she nurses him, yet once he’s back to full, virile health, she cannot reveal Thomas is not her husband—or that she’s unmarried!—when everyone is expecting them to act like husband and wife…

Although the fourth book this can easily be read as a standalone. We are transported back to the 13th century and we follow Brida O’Connaill and Sir Thomas Love.
Brida was a character I took an immediate liking to. She is witty, very strong and also independent. The characterisation is well done. Melissa Oliver has brought characters that you eventually fall in love with. Thomas took me a little while to get to know of as he has a bit of an attitude issue first but as the story unfolds I got to see that he was just putting a front on and his genuine self makes him another likeable character. I found myself hoping so much that they would actually sort it out and get together.
The feeling that I was in the thirteenth century soon pulled me away from modern-day 2021 and I revelled in the vivid descriptions of the century.

A great story with characters that you want to be friends with and plenty of romance and adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed my time spent with Brida and Thomas in this heartwarming historical book.
Thanks to Rachel’s Random Resources, Mills &Boon and Harlequin Books for my gifted copy of this immersive historical romance.
