Nicola May – Starry Skies In Ferry Lane Market

Another Ferry Lane Market story, specifically the second book of the series that I am loving! There are relatable characters everywhere and it’s believable from start to finish. I jumped to be part of this books tour I loved the first one that much.

Nicola May

When Star Bligh got pregnant at the age of sixteen, she thought her life was over. Now thirty-three, mother to Skye and owner of the successful jewellery stall in Ferry Lane Market in Hartmouth, Cornwall, she wouldn’t change a thing about it.

Well, maybe one. A few months ago she fell hard for American visitor Jack, but then he left without even saying goodbye and ever since she has struggled to get him out of her head. Until the handsome, roguish Conor turns up and sweeps her off her feet. But then one day, Star is shocked to bump into Jack. He’s back in Hartmouth to tell her why he left – but is she ready to listen?

As things get more complicated with her love life, another revelation threatens to turn the lovely world she has built for her and Skye upside down. But could this be the one thing that will make it complete?

I loved returning to this place, catching up with Kara Moon from the first book and meeting new people. Star and her daughter Skye are two such people. She is a single parent who is the product of a single-parent family, herself, and one which wasn’t the best, she has been determined to be the opposite to her daughter, Skye, like her own mother, has been hesitant to let Skye know who her father is.

Skye is growing up, with a life of her own, and it’s time for Star can begin to think about herself more. Two possibilities of partners are looming; one unavailable, one she’s not sure of, even if he is a hunk and …well just read the book to find out.

The characters of this series are the type of people you would expect to find at your local market. Just salt of the earth types, who will call a spade a spade and not mince their words. I miss these types of people these days now the markets seem to be dwindling.

I find that I just sit down with these Ferry Lane books and I am off, settling back down with the people and places I become immersed in so easily. Various things are going off that keep me absorbed in the lives of everyone. Secrets, drama and plenty of emotion make this a fabulous instalment of the Ferry Lane Series and I will be waiting for the next one to arrive…impatiently!
