Jess Roy – I Know Your Secret

A book I wanted to read as soon as I saw the synopsis. Jess Roy is an author I haven’t come across prior to this tour, so I was definitely curious to discover what would be inside that cover. First, the synopsis.

Jess Roy

Dr Amanda Brody has it all – or so it seems. Married to a leading medical consultant, with a fabulous career, two amazing children, and a beautiful house in the suburbs of Galway City. Everything is perfect – or is it? Because Amanda hides a secret. One she has lived with for years. A secret so terrible she has no doubt it will destroy her life if ever it is revealed. And this is exactly what happens, starting with a note pinned to her car, on it just four words: I Know Your Secret. Who knows her secret? Who does she turn to? Who does she trust? Amanda’s worst nightmare has just begun.

Told through a dual timeline and by showing flashbacks which drip feeds the story to the reader. I always love a dual timeline and the way Jess Roy just reveals small parts as you read does raise the tension to the point that you are on the edge of the seat, just dying for the next reveal.

The characters are as much an enigma as the story – creating within the reader a need to know more about them. This, along with the dual timeline, makes this a book you can’t just read a couple of pages and put the book back down…no. This is a book you read in one or two binge reads, the need to know everything is too great to slowly savour the story.

This is a psychological thriller that keeps you guessing. I was led down many blind alleys while reading it. I would guess one thing and then, bang, a twist was thrown in and I was wrong again. This is part of my fascination with psychological Thrillers, the thrill of the clues and the drip-feeding. I always enjoy that extra something that a book such as this brings.

‘I Know Your Secret’ is a psychological thriller that keeps you on your toes to the final chapter and it does it brilliantly.

Thanks to ZooLoo’s Book Tours and Question Mark Press for the copy of the book to give you my thoughts.
